Who else remembers how fun it was to eat chicken nuggets as a kid? You'd dip those crunchy bites of chicken into your dipping sauce of choice (ketchup? barbecue sauce? honey mustard? so many options!) and then chow down. We certainly have fond memories of those days, and so we developed our very own chicken fingers recipe using an ingredient that might seem unusual. But we guarantee it will lead to some of your crispiest chicken fingers ever!

These Bisquick chicken fingers are easy to make, and they will have you reliving your childhood in a flash. Plus your own kids will be super impressed that you can make chicken nuggets at home (and they'll love that they taste even better than a restaurant version).

Preparation Time15 min

Cooking Time15 min

  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breast halves cut crosswise into 1/2" strips
  • 2/3 cup Bisquick mix
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

Bisquick Chicken Fingers Recipe

  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Line cookie sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.

  3. In a resalable freezer bag (a big one), mix Bisquick, cheese, salt, and paprika.

  4. Dip half the chicken nuggets into the egg and then place in the resealable bag. Seal the bag and shake.

  5. Drizzle your butter over the chicken, and bake for 12-14 minutes, turning them over halfway through.

  6. Serve with honey mustard dipping sauce.

Does the dry mustard go with the dry ingredients or is it for the honey mustard sauce?

This shake and bake method is such a great way to make chicken fingers or nuggets and I love that they aren't fried. I'm not sure how I feel about using the mustard powder but I think the smoked paprika and parmesan is a wonderful combination...although, I might feel inclined to add a little pepper to the mix. I do have to say, however, the flour on the outside of the nuggets in the picture is weirding me out a little. ..and I'm hoping maybe spraying the nuggets with oil to ensure that doesn't happen again may fix the problem.

These were SO good! I need more of them in my life

Using Bisquick is a really creative touch. I need to try these pronto!

These certainly tasted healthier than your typical chicken nuggets because the Bisquick created a much lighter coating than I am used to. Not sure how they actually compare in the nutrition department, but the taste was fantastic! I love that they didn't have the heavy breading like most nuggets do.

These are pretty darn tasty, I must say.
