If your family is craving steak, this recipe delivers the moistest, juiciest, steak straight from the slow cooker. This is a great option for busy cooks because you can leave it alone all day and come home to a great meal you basically just have to put on a plate. Dress this succulent steak up with some delicious sides like steamed veggies and mashed potatoes, or prepare marinade or dipping sauce of your choice to add even more flavor to the plate.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds top round sirloin steaks, cut into 3" or 4" pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup unbleached or all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Cut steaks into 3 or 4-inch pieces and sprinkled with the salt and pepper.

  2. Place the olive oil in a large pan over high heat. When the oil is hot, add half of the steaks. Brown thoroughly on each side, remove from pan and put them in the slow cooker. Repeat with the other steaks.

  3. Pour 2 cups of water in the hot pan along with 3 cups of beef broth. Reduce heat to medium high.

  4. Slowly add the flour to the hot pan. Stir constantly until the broth thickens. Pour gravy over the steaks in the slow cooker.

This is another slow cooker recipe that I am hoping to try. I have already asked Santa for a new one as the old one really needs to be replaced. For all intents and purposes, this could be prepared in the oven on a low temperature. Sounds delicious and easy!

Fork tender beef, what can be better? I can see this served over a bed of rice or noodles. Rnbowgrl had a great idea to use this recipe to make Fajitas or Philly cheesesteak. What ever you plan to use this for, it will be a great success. The best part, you don't have to stand watch over it.

Omigosh I could just imagine the aroma this dish brings into your home. The first thing that came to me when I saw how this was made and realized how juicy and flavorful it was going to be is what a wonderful Stroganoff this would make. You can actually probably make several different types of meals with this deliciousness...like Fajitas or even Philly cheesesteak, all you need is some peppers and cheese. Yum!!!

Wow, this is very VERY good!! I was going to be out at appointments for most of the day so set the slow cooker to low for the 6-8 hours as recommended and the result was meltingly tender steak and gorgeously tasty. There are no fancy ingredients so it only takes minutes to prepare which means it is so easy to prepare mid week on a work morning and the family loved it.

2 cups of waterseperated what does that mean? The instructions state pour 2 cups of water in the pan, nothing about seperating the water.

Hello djhixson! I have no idea why they said "separated" because you use them at the same time. Try it, it is really a nice meal!
