Caramelized Pears

"We try to “mix it up” and use fruits in unique ways. Pears are versatile, believe it or not, and prefect for cooking, baking and grilling. Warming the pears brings out its natural juicy and bright flavor. With this recipe, its better to use pears that are soft. I personally like to eat pears raw when they are still crunchy. Once they become soft I tend to not eat them straight, so this is the prefect recipe to use up perfectly good fruit and to turn it into something even tastier."

  • 1/3 c filtered water
  • 2/3 c Waxing Kara Honey
  • 3 Firm pears halved and cored
  • 2/3 c coconut milk or heavy cream

  1. Pour water into skillet, add honey. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally until the mixture is bubbling. Add pears to skillet, cut side down. Cover and reduce heat. Allow to simmer for about 15 minutes.

  2. Uncover, reduce to medium heat and cook until sauce is golden brown, around 5 minutes. Add coconut milk (or cream) and shake skillet until it’s fully integrated. About 5 minutes.
