This recipe is similar to shepherd's pie. With its hearty, savory flavor, this casserole will definitely be popular with the entire family. Since vegetables are included in this recipe, there is no need to prepare any side dishes. Out of personal preference, instead of including parsnips, I would increase the amount of peas and carrots in the casserole. For a healthier version of this dish, I would use reduced sodium beef stock, reduced sodium Worcestershire sauce, and skim milk.

Great flavour! It does make 6 good servings. I served the casserole with fresh sliced tomatoes and coleslaw. Delicious!!

This recipe sounds really tasty and also easy to prepare. I've been using sweet potatoes as a substitute in potato recipes, with amazing results. My favourite so far is sweet potato fries. I'm sure sweet potatoes would be great in this casserole also in place of potatoes, just to change the flavor sometimes if you're making casseroles often.
