  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2" glass dish.
  2. Spread undrained pineapple on bottom of dish.
  3. Spoon pie filling over pineapple. Sprinkle dry cake mix over pineapple-cherry mixture. Top with chopped pecans.
  4. Slice butter into small pats and place evenly on top of pecans.
  5. Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until cake tests done.

I followed the directions to a tee, but checked it after 45 minutes instead of letting it go the whole 50. My nuts were all burnt black, and the cake mix was nearly burnt black, too! Very dissapointed. I spent about $18 on ingredients. It probably would have turned out great if I had checked it at about 30-35 minutes.
