Made with only four ingredients, Marvelous Marshmallow Sweet Potato Casserole couldn't be easier to make. Maple syrup and cinnamon are all you need to flavor the sweet potatoes. A simple marshmallow topping is the perfect finishing touch. This casserole is sweet, so those with a sweet tooth will love it. This casserole will fit in well at Thanksgiving dinner, so make sure to put it on the menu. It's hard to resist an easy casserole recipe like this.

Cooking MethodCasserole

  • Casserole:
  • 4 to 5 pounds sweet potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Topping:
  • 2 cups marshmallows

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Wrap each sweet potato in foil and place on a cookie sheet. Bake sweet potatoes for 1 hour or until tender. Let stand until cool to touch (about 20 minutes). Turn oven down to 350 degrees F.

  2. Once the sweet potatoes are cool, peel using a fork or your hands. Put them in a large mixing bowl and then mash them.

  3. Mix with a hand mixer. Add maple syrup and cinnamon, and mix again.

  4. Pour the sweet potato filling into an 8 x 8 inch casserole dish. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly on top of the casserole.

  5. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the marshmallows start to brown.

When this classic sweet potato dish is part of a thanksgiving spread, it usually determines where I choose to sit! It is surely one of my favorite things about the holiday, sometimes even moreso than the turkey itself. But why stop at Thanksgiving? It is a great way to get even the pickiest of children to eat their vegetables.
