  • 4 -5 bone-in pork chops (1.5 – 2 pounds)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 (10-1/2-ounce) cans French Onion Soup
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 2 sprigs of thyme


  1. Season pork chops liberally with salt and pepper.

  2. Add soup and rice to a 13x9-inch baking dish and stir to combine. 

  3. Arrange browned pork chops on top of rice in a single layer. Cover dish tightly with aluminum foil (enough that none of the steam escapes during cooking or the rice won’t cook through).

  4. Bake at 375 degrees F for one hour.

Am confused over differences b/t ingredients, instructions, and video. Instructions states to place "browned pork chops" on top but guess it is understood to brown first. However, video shows un-browned chops. Ingredient list has 4-5 chops but video has only two. Ingredients lists two cans of soup. Is that condensed or not? Looks like in the video in is not condensed soup. Maybe it is one can condensed and one can water. Please clarify.

This pork chop recipe looks superb. My mouth is watering. I'd like to try it. I have some pork chops and was wondering what to do with them. Now I have found my answer! I love onion soup too and think it's a great idea to incorporate that into the rice. Yum!

I really enjoy pork chops but rarely buy them because I never know what to do with I always get excited when I see a yummy recipe like this, especially when it's made with rice. Yum! Browning the pork chops first and then heating up the soup in the bits from the pork chops is probably the route I'd go for more color and flavor...but either way I'm sure it's delicious and I can't wait to try it!

This has got to be one of the easiest and tastiest one pan meals out there. When using good pork chops with the bone still attached, they come out tender and so full of flavor! I grow lemon thyme in my garden, so I used this and also threw in some thin lemon slices to accentuate my lovely herbs. When it was almost done, I steamed some fresh broccoli using the microwave to serve on the side. It was very tasty!

This was the perfect recipe for today. There was going to be no time at all to made dinner for the family so I quickly assembled the ingredients this morning before work and then popped it all into the slow cooker so that it slowly bubbled away getting all delicious and tender during the day. The only addition I made was a chopped fresh garlic clove. The chops were SO TASTY! In fact the whole meal was delicious so do give it a try.
