Recipes utilizing the sweet-tart and widely varied different varieties of apples are some of the most fun to work with that I have found, but this one is one of the exceptions. I love recipes that use apple, especially apple pies, but this one is pretty complicated and might serve me better given a simpler way to make them while leaving flavor intact.

Just an FYI, here in Canada McDonald's doesn't fry their pies, they are really baked. I know because I worked for them for 2.5 years and put 1000's of them into the ovens. Margaret-Ann

Yes, they are now baked here in the United States as well. Im afraid they discovered that deep frying things is bad for your health and causes obesity. This recipe appears to be for the old fashioned, absolutely yummy apple pies of my youth! YUM!
