    Ingredients

    • 2 14 oz. Refrigerated double pie crust
    • 1 21 oz. can Caramel Apple filling
    • 1 cup Chopped dates
    • 1 tablespoon Apple spice
    • 1 cup Brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoons Flour
    • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
    • 2 tablespoons Butter
    • 2 tablespoons Applebutter

    Instructions:

    1. Spread apple butter over bottom crust.

    2. In medium bowl combine caramel apple filling, chopped dates and apple spice/ mix well / pour in bottom crust.

    3. Caramel topping- in medium bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, butter and mix until crumby.

    4. Spread over apples in crust / cover with top crust.

    5. Cover crust rim with foil strips to bake. Preheat oven to 400 degrees bake 40 minutes until top is lightly browned.

    I've always loved apple pie and this variation looks beyond splendid. I didn't realize there was a caramel apple pie filling, but a quick look at Wal-Mart showed that there was indeed such a thing. I also like the addition of the chopped dates. I've had it with raisins before and the dates are a nice change from using those.
