Ding Dong Cake
Hostess Ding Dongs came out in the 60s. Do you remember them? These little chocolate cakes were perfect to include in sack lunches for the kids. Now, you can make an adult-sized Ding Dong Cake. Everything is made from scratch, and you can tell. Layers of chocolate cake surround a layer of cream filling. It's topped with a chocolate ganache just like the Hostess kind. If you want to make a fun chocolate cake reminiscent of your childhood, this recipe is the one for you.

Oh my word, this is exciting to see. I love Ding Dongs with the chocolatey goodness and creamy center. They were a big treat at my house when we were kids. This would be great fun to make for my family. It certainly looks delicious. It just may be a perfect birthday dessert for adults.

When I was a kid I always liked ding dongs and the chocolate snow balls with the coconut on the outside. This is a great grown up version of the popular snack! It is probably much better for you than the factory made snack, since it doesn't contain a ton of preservatives. The dark chocolate glaze on the top is to die for!

Ding Dongs were my absolute favorite Hostess snack. I remember going every Saturday and buying a box of them and Twinkies with my mom after cleaning my grandma and grandpa's house. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I am going to have to make this recipe tonight for sure!

In my area, we don't have Ding Dongs, but we do have similar snack cakes. I have not had any for years, but I loved them. I would love to be able to taste that again. The recipe for the cake, filling, and ganache is pretty simple. The tricky part is cutting the cake in half. Just go slow and it will work out fine. Make sure to watch the video.
