These Fork Tender Burgers and Gravy are just what you need to bring some quick comfort to the dinner table. Everyone will love how much flavor these burgers have, especially when smothered in a delicious brown gravy you can't help but crave. These burgers are simple and come together quickly so you can enjoy dinner with your family rather than spending so much time in the kitchen making it. The burger patties are seasoned deliciously with chopped onions, Worcestershire sauce, a blend of herbs and spices, and then cooked to perfection in a pan with olive oil. The gravy is made next and is poured right on top when serving.

Preparation Time10 min

Cooking Time30 min

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt and pepper, to taste

  1. In a large bowl, mix together onion, beef, and spices.  Divide into 4 even patties.

  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.  Place burgers in the pan and cook for approximately 8 minutes on each side.  Remove to a plate and set aside.

  3. Sprinkle flour over the drippings in the pan and whisk gently.  Cook flour mixture an additional five minutes, stirring constantly and scraping up any bits in the bottom of the pan.

  4. Slowly add the beef broth, whisking to dissolve any lumps. Stir milk into the mixture and return to a gentle simmer.  Gravy will thicken.  Taste and season as needed.

  5. Pour gravy over the burgers to serve.

My favorite ground beef meal is just ground beef with diced potatoes, carrots, and raisins seasoned with soy sauce, salt, and pepper and paired or placed on top of a bowl of steamed white rice. Meatloaf and rice is good too.

This would be so lovely over rice, noodles or roasted potatoes and I'd definitely have to throw some mushrooms into that delicious gravy. I just had a about adding sliced bell peppers, and onion into the gravy, putting that deliciousness on the burgers with some swiss cheese, and serving it on your favorite roll. It's almost like a dreamy version of a cheesesteak only in a burger. Yum!

These burgers look so yummy. I want to make them soon because I love hamburger gravy. I think that my kids would fall in love with these because I sure did when I was their age. We used to have this over mashed potatoes or bread when we had it, and if we didnt't that was ok too.

These are incredibly tasty and easy to make. The gravy is wonderful. One thing I added was some crumbled bacon to the burger mixture. It's rare that I have a hamburger without bacon being incorporated in some way, and mixing some crumbles into the mix just gave it the extra bit of flavor I was looking for.

Burgers are always guaranteed to bring smiles to the dinner table in our home. Yours too, I am sure, lol! This is a really good burger recipe and the gravy is yummy too. We used the other half of the red onion in the gravy after lightly browning the chopped onion in the drippings in the pan which gave the gravy a slight lift. All in all a very good dish and we will definitely be having it again.Burgers are always guaranteed to bring smiles to the dinner table in our home. Yours too, I am sure, lol! This recipe is a great idea for people trying to cut down on their intake of carbs. Since the sauce only contains a mere 1 tbsp. of flour, it could easily be swapped out for a rice flour in order to make it gluten free. I think I might even like this on a bun too - the sauce might be nice instead of the traditional condiments like ketchup, mustard, onion or pickle.

This is a great way to make tasty burgers without the bun! Love it!

This makes me think of homemade Salisbury steak and gravy, except this is simpler. Worcestershire sauce gives really great flavor to ground beef. 1/4 cup seems like a lot for one pound of meat, but just try it. This would be great served with mashed potatoes on the side and pour some gravy over the patty and the potatoes.

I like this recipe because it is a different way to serve hamburgers than the usual sandwich route. With a vegetable or salad it makes a delicious meal for lunch or dinner. We are especially fond of gravy here so I am sure this one will be a hit.
