German Potato Salad
German Potato Salad

"This authentic German Potato Salad reminds me of my childhood! Served warm or cold, the simple combination of red potatoes, bacon, onion, and a sweet and tangy dressing creates the perfect potluck picnic dish or Oktoberfest side. Unlike a traditional Southern mayonnaise-based potato salad which must be served cold, the German potato salad is delicious cold, at room temperature, or warm. There's no wrong way to enjoy the side dish, so it's just a matter of your personal preference. I tend to do a lot of cooking in advance (for convenience), so we often have the salad cold. That warm bacon-flavored dressing is heavenly, though! With some grilled brats, a platter of big, warm, soft pretzels, a cold beer, and a bowl of this authentic German potato salad, your Oktoberfest meal will be complete!"

I thought it was a little strange that this salad is served warm, but when I tried it I was in heaven! This recipe takes something super simple like a deli salad and turns it into a quite remarkable side dish! I'd definitely be happy to have this alongside a roast chicken, or even a holiday ham! Plus, if there is any leftover, (highly unlikely) I'm sure you'd catch me eating it cold right out of the fridge!

This German Potato Salad is such a refreshing break from the usual. It is perfect for Summer bar-b-ques because you don't have to worry about the mayo not holding up. Has an unusual combination of flavors that come together perfectly, and is sure to please any crowd. I could make a meal out of this alone.

Simple and delicious. Reminds me of my days in Berlin.
