Sweet Buttermilk Cornbread

- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter, slightly cooled
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Lightly grease a 9 x 12-inch glass baking dish.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then beat in the sugar.
- Mix in the buttermilk until blended, then add the melted butter.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture; mix well.
- Add the cornmeal and blend thoroughly.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.
