I love strawberry jello pretzel salad, but I haven't had any luck making it. My bottom layer doesn't stay together, and the strawberry layer is too runny. I'm hoping this recipe is the one that works for me. The combination of sweet and salty is wonderful! What's the best way to chop the pretzels?

It can be either a salad or a dessert. It is good enough to be a dessert that is for sure. Sure like it!!!

How do you figure it to be seven layers. When you mix things together, it makes one layer. So there are three layers. On the other hand, I have made Pretzel Salad many times and it is terrific. You can really cut carbs by using sf jello and splenda instead of sugar, too.

As a fellow Pittsburgher, I agree. Pretzel salad is just that, a salad. (Some friends in Baltimore did not believe me when I made it while living there, but indeed Pretzel Salad (as my family called it) is a salad.

Jello Salad is a salad, not a dessert, at least not here in the Pittsburgh area (or within my extended family).
