Frankfurter Divan

This interesting take on hot dogs will have your stomach wanting another scoopful. The surprising ingredient of broccoli adds some amazing flavor to the dish.

  • 2 (10 1/2-ounce packages) frozen broccoli or 2 pounds fresh broccoli, cooked
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons sherry
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 pound hot dog all-beef


  1. Place broccoli in a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan melt margarine; stir in flour and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes.
  3. Add milk and cook, stirring, until sauce thickens and begins to bubble.
  4. Add salt, pepper, sherry, and 1/2 cup cheese; remove from heat and keep warm.
  5. Split frankfurters lengthwise, then cut in half crosswise; arrange over broccoli.
  6. Cover with sauce and top with remaining cheese.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until heated through.
