Type of DishBread

Ingredients

  • 1 round loaf of sourdough bread
  • 4 medium jalapeno peppers, sliced thinly with the seeds removed
  • 1 package cream cheese, frozen until firm enough to slice (8 oz)
  • 1/2 cup grated Colby Jack cheese
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced
  • salt
  • pepper

Recipe

  1. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice a grid into the top of the bread- cutting down to the bottom of the loaf but not all the way through.

  2. Stuff the peppers in each of the crevices, all the way down to the bottom. The more edges that have filling the better! Slice the cream cheese and stuff it in with the peppers. Continue with the scallions and then sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Add a bit of salt & pepper.

  3. Bake at 375F for 15-20 minutes or until the cheeses are melted and golden. Serve warm.

I love pull-apart breads, both sweet and savory. This is a great and very appealing recipe, with the added bonus of being very easy to make. Since I love jalapenos, I might add some Pepper Jack cheese to the Colby Jack sprinkled on top. This is definitely something to keep in mind for when we're doing some grilling this summer.

I'm a sucker for all bread recipes. The fact that this recipe includes cheese makes it even better!

Wow! This recipe has everything I love-bread, cheese, jalapeos! Definitely putting this on my to-make list (probably for the fall since I hate baking in the summer, although, I might not be able to make it that long!! hahahaha).
