Classic Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast is a budget-friendly recipe that has been around for ages, often served in the army and at diners. The salty beef is covered in an easy-to-make white sauce and, as its name states, served on toast. You can adapt this recipe easily by adding as many or as few spices as you like or have available. If you want to take a trip back in time and experience the food of the age, try this chipped beef recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 ounces sliced beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • dash of paprika
  • dash of teriyaki sauce
  • 2 slices toast

  1. Place the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Once melted, slowly add flour and continue to whisk until flour starts to brown, about one minute.

  4. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 1 minute more.

  5. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and teriyaki sauce.

  6. Turn the stove off.

This was delicious and salty! Definitely eat it on brown bread with lots of seeds and nuts.
