Spanish Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper, onion
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups of water
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • cumino, cilantro, salt, and pepper to taste

Instructions

Start by frying the rice in the oil with the garlic, green pepper, and onion. You'll want to use low heat, frying the rice until it takes on a less translucent, whitish appearance. Then add the water and tomato sauce and bring the whole thing to a boil, adding the spices to taste as you go. After it comes to a boil, reduce the heat and cover. You'll have tasty rice in just twenty minutes or so. If you want this to be more than just a side dish, you can add cooked chicken, pork, or beef and serve a plate of it as a meal.
