  • 2 cups chocolate milk
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Find a ceramic baking dish that will fit inside the crock of your slow cooker.  Grease and flour this dish and set it aside.

  2. Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl, beat for 2 minutes.

  3. Pour batter into prepared dish.

  4. Place dish in slow cooker. Lay a few layers of paper towels across the top of the slow cooker.  Place lid over the top.  If paper towels become saturated during cooking, quickly replace with new dry layers.

Your recipes are often really good, probably all of them are really good, except for us here in UK, what on earth is 'yellow cake mix'? This description of cake mix is unheard of by most people who live in UK, so please could we have a better description, or even better a list of ingredients, measures, of both 'yellow' white' cake mix please.? If we buy a cake mix here, although i do always make a cake from scratch its listed for what is becomes, ie, 'sponge cake' etc, so please help us out? We would be very grateful, thank you Sue Atter

This is unusual in a variety of ways. First, it's fairly rare to encounter a cake recipe that uses a slow cooker. Second, it's odd to have a coffee cake that incorporates chocolate milk and peanut butter. Being a fan of both, though, I'm attracted to a cake using those ingredients, no matter the cooking process. I'll have to rummage around and see if I can find a suitable pan for use with our slow cooker. Anyone know how this would translate (time and temperature) to using a regular oven?

I agree that we don't use our slow cookers for baking cakes. I'm getting into cake baking in my slow cooker and I've been collecting recipes. I didn't expect to see peanut butter in something called a coffee cake (I'm a coffee addict). I do eat peanut butter but only spread on toast. I have never used it in a recipe but I guess I am going to have to try it sometime.

This recipe is so different. I've never made a cake in my slow cooker, and I definitely have never used chocolate milk in a recipe. I have to try this once. It sounds like a coffee cake recipe my family will enjoy on a Sunday morning with fruit, milk, and coffee.
