This copycat recipe is a cheap dinner idea that's so easy, you won't need the recipe after the first time making it. Beer-in-the-Rear Chicken is a whole chicken recipe that uses a can of beer. The chicken sits atop a can of beer on the grill so it turns out super moist, tender and full of flavor. Using a dry rub adds even more great taste to the chicken!

A friend made this recipe for a barbecue over the weekend and it was so tasty! I had often heard about cooking a chicken on a beer can but had never actually seen or done it myself. It's a talking point, fun to do and really good to eat.

When cooking a whole chicken on the grill or in a smoker, this is by far the easiest way. I used to cut the backbone out with poultry shears and butterfly it so that it would cook evenly, but this way is so much easier! I added a little cayenne pepper and some smoked paprika to my spice rub for a little bit more color and smokiness.

This is a great summer meal that takes little work and tastes great off the grill!
