Zesty Italian Crescent Casserole

Zesty Italian Crescent Casserole is quite literally one of the easiest ground beef casserole recipes you will ever make. This is a great option for weeknight dinners when you just need to get something on the table fast! This will remind your kids of pizza because of its delicious and flakey outside crust and its pizza-saucey, ground-beefy, cheesy-interior. This is also an easy option when you don't have a lot of time but still want to make something filling and tasty. Try this recipe out and let us know if you would change or add anything. We're thinking some spicy sausage could be pretty delicious...

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup pasta sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 can Pilsbury crescent rolls
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a skillet, brown ground beef with chopped onions. Drain any fat.

  3. Pour beef into bottom of a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan.

  4. Pour pasta sauce over the meat, follow sour cream over the top. Top with shredded cheese.

  5. Cover the top of the dish with crescent rolls, making sure all edges are sealed.

  6. Combine butter, parmesan and herbs in a small bowl. Brush over the top of the pie.

  7. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and cooked through.

  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

This Zesty Italian Crescent Casserole is shear joy. It's chock full of Italian flavor, and quick and easy to make. I admit I poured a little pasta sauce and sprinkled some grated parmesan cheese on top when I served it (I think that was just an Italian thing with me) The recipe is perfect as written, and makes for a great weeknight meal.

Absolutely loved the thought of all those Italian flavors in such an easy meal! Because we mostly follow a low carb eating plant we omitted the rolls and instead had a lovely fresh leafy green salad fresh from our garden. It is a lovely meal that the whole family enjoys and we will definitely be having it again.

This looks so good! Wow. Simple too. I like that.
