Broccoli Crab Casserole

  • 8 spears broccoli, cooked
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sherry
  • 12 ounces imitation crabmeat, thawed, flaked
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Arrange broccoli in a greased shallow casserole dish. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  3. Saute onion in 6 tablespoons of the butter until soft.
  4. Stir in flour, curry, and salt. Cook about 1 minute.
  5. Add milk gradually. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
  6. Blend in lemon juice and sherry. Add crabmeat.
  7. Pour mixture over the broccoli.
  8. Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and combine with the breadcrumbs.
  9. Sprinkle over the casserole and bake for 30 minutes.
