Sweet And Sour Meatballs
Sweet And Sour Meatballs

"Sweet and Sour meatballs is a fried ground pork meatballs in tomato-based sweet and sour sauce, with carrot, onions, and bell pepper. This recipe does not include pineapples. This would be great for those who do not like pineapples. Meatballs ingredients also vary according to the cooks’ preferences. Some cooks love to combine beef and pork, and some want meatballs with fats, while some want lean meat. Regardless, meatballs are a must-have for easy yet delicious meals."

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1 teaspoon celery powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon iodized salt
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 clove minced garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 large bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 cup thinly chopped carrots
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 pork cube
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Make the meatballs. Check out the step by step procedure of the Meatballs Recipe.

  2. Make the sauce. If you’re cooking the Sweet and Sour meatballs right after cooking the meatballs, use the same pan for the sauce. Heat it up under medium low fire, and sauté the onions, garlic, and ginger, for about 15 to 20 seconds. Add the carrots, then season with ground black pepper. Cook the carrots for a minute. Add the tomato paste, and cook for another minute. Mix it well with the vegetables and spices. Add tomato sauce and water, then stir until well-blended. Add the pork cube, and brown sugar. Mix it well so the brown sugar dissolves. Cover and simmer under low fire for a minute, stirring occasionally. Add the vinegar, and stir once or twice. Do not cover, and let it simmer for another 30 seconds, just to let the acidity evaporate. Taste the sauce, and adjust the taste to your liking.

  3. Add the meatballs to the sauce. Once the sauce is to your liking, add the meatballs, sesame oil, and the bell pepper. Mix and cook it under medium low fire for 3 minutes. Make sure the meatballs are coated well with the sauce. Just add a small amount of water if the sauce becomes too thick, or is running dry. Taste the sauce, and when it’s ready, turn off the heat.

  4. Serve! Transfer the meatballs into a serving plate or bowl, then pour the sauce all over the meatballs. Garnish with your favorite fresh herb or spice. Serve and enjoy while hot!
