The flavorful sauce is made with mushrooms and chili sauce. It's important to use Heinz chili sauce or the like, not Sriracha hot chili sauce. There's a big difference! If you don't realize the difference as you're making the recipe, your mouth will sure be able to tell after your first bite!

This recipe looks a lot better than the version of Salisbury Steak the school cafeteria used to make! I would definitely try this out. We have a vegetarian in the house so I would probably make two. I would switch out the ground beef for beefless crumbles and then also use vegetable broth instead of beef broth in the sauce. Has anyone tried a vegetarian variation of this recipe yet?
