Cherry and cream cheese is just one of those classic pairings that everyone seems to love, right? I think cherry cheese danish are a great breakfast option, so I know these cookies will be something I make over and over. My family will devour them, so I will have to make at least three batches to satisfy them for a while.

These cookies are really worth the extra effort to make! I am not a "baker-baker" but a "mom-baker" so I usually make quick and easy goodies. I absolutely loved the handwritten recipe so I wanted to take as much effort to make these as the lovely woman who wrote the recipe. Here's what I modified I exchanged the sugar for equal amount of Splenda. My husband's favorite "nut" is sunflower seed. So, I chopped sunflower seeds instead of the walnuts. My husband was delighted!! Anyone else make any modifications? Always wanting to learn new things!

Cookie dough made with cream cheese is really easy to work with. I made these without the nuts or the cherries and they turned out really good. I am not a fan of cherries and my family doesn't like nuts so I didn't do that part. I thought they were good plain. Just not as pretty.
