If you're looking for a delicious no bake cookie recipe that is good enough for any unexpected visitor, you've come to the right place. These cookies are called preacher cookies because they can be made in a hurry using ingredients that you probably already have on hand. So when your preacher drops by to say hello, you can easily make these cookies for a treat to serve!

Whether you're making them for an unexpected guest or not, we love that these cookies are quick to make and taste delicious. They rich, chewy, and full of chocolate flavor. Our version even uses a few sprinkles on top for that extra bit of flair!

Yields24 cookies

Preparation Time5 min

Cooking Time1 min

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups old fashioned or quick oats
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sprinkles, divided

Preacher Cookies Recipe

  1. In a medium sized sauce pan over medium-high heat add butter, sugar, cocoa powder, milk and salt.

  2. Stir until butter is melted and ingredients are incorporated. Bring mixture to a rolling boil, and boil for 1 minute and 15 seconds. This part is very important or the cookies will not set up.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until completely melted and vanilla extract. Add the oatmeal and mix well. Add ½ cup sprinkles.

  4. Working quickly before the mixture cools and thickens up drop the mixture by tablespoon (I use my small cookie scoop) onto wax paper.

  5. Sprinkle with remaining sprinkles.

  6. Let cookies cool completely and set up before removing. The key to getting the cookies glossy on top is not touching them after you drop the mixture onto waxed paper.

These cookies were so good! I loved the combination of chocolate and peanut butter.

Peanut butter and chocolate are winners in my book, so these cookies were a hit!

These were PERFECTION and just what I was craving!

The story behind how this recipe got it's name is a little weird, but that doesn't stop me from loving these cookies! I love the addition of rainbow sprinkles because let's be honest, everything is better with rainbow sprinkles :) I also love the combination of oatmeal and peanut butter, so this recipe was a home run in my book!

Wow, these cookies are so delicious! Peanut butter and chocolate is my absolute favorite combination. I'll definitely be making a big batch of these in the near future.

LOVED these cookies! I can't believe they're so easy to make - I'll definitely be adding them to my recipe box!

These were really yummy. The chocolate and peanut butter ratio was perfect, and they were nice and chewy!

Until I came across this recipe, I had never heard of "preacher cookies," but I love the story behind the concept. Once I found out they were so easy to make, I had to give them a try! Chocolate and peanut butter are two of my favorite things, and putting them together in this creamy, chewy cookie is making folks come back for seconds...and thirds. Delightful!
