My nephews favorite cake is Red Velvet, and these Really Red Velvet Cupcakes are his favorite. The success of this made from scratch recipe is not only the blend of ingredients, but the technique used in blending and putting them together. I also love the recipe for the cream cheese frosting. I'll be using it on other recipes, like carrot cake.

These are absolutely heavenly! However, if you're not used to baking from scratch or the time and mess it makes, then this will be quite an undertaking! Every so often I have the luxury of a cooking day when I can bake from scratch, so I made these. I usually like to clean up as I go along, but there are so many ingredients in this delicious red velvet cake from scratch, that I found it easier to get all the ingredients out on the counter first. I'm less likely to forget where I'm at and leave out an ingredient! That said, these are so delicious and addictive so beware if you don't have the willpower to stop after one! I didn't! The cream cheese frosting is a must, too!
