This image courtesy of bgfoods.com

Apple cinnamon instant hot cereal adds a delicate fruity flavor to these crisp golden fritters. They are fried and dusted with powdered sugar so every bite is as good as the last one. Enjoy this simple fritters recipe for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 3 packets of Cream of Wheat Baked Apple Cinnamon Instant Hot Cereal
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs seperated
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, cereal, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl; set aside. Beat egg yolks, milk and 1 Tbsp. oil with wire whisk until well blended. Add to flour mixture; stir until well blended. Let stand 10 min.

  2. Meanwhile, heat 1-1/2 inches oil in heavy saucepan or electric skillet to 375 degrees F.

  3. Beat egg whites on high speed with electric mixer until stiff peaks form; gently stir into batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot oil; cook 3 to 5 min. or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Cool completely.

  4. How to Separate Eggs: Pull apart cracked egg with thumb. Pour contents of egg from one half of shell to other, allowing egg white to run into bowl.

  5. Jazz It Up: Dust fritters with powdered sugar just before serving.
