Meatloaf is the quintessential comfort food, right? Put this meat dish with a good ole pot of homemade mashed potatoes, some gravy, biscuits, and some veggies, and you have a meal fit for Sunday dinner after everyone gets home from church. You can even cook it while you watch football.

Meatloaf is comfort food, and the whole family will enjoy eating this. I usually only use 1 and 1/2 pounds of ground beef when making meatloaf, but this recipe requires 3 pounds so this will probably make a really big meatloaf. When preparing this main dish, I would use lean ground beef, quick oats, low sodium Worcestershire sauce, and unsalted tomato sauce. Serve this with mashed potatoes and green beans, and dinner is ready.

This is a nice and straightforward meatloaf recipe. I hadn't thought of using both oats and breadcrumbs in the mix since I usually just add breadcrumbs. I'm not overly fond of tomato catsup, though my wife loves the stuff. I prefer using regular tomato sauce whenever possible. There was a suggestion to make a lattice of bacon strips on top of the meatloaf and I think that's a splendid addition to this.
