Did this get served at your elementary school? They served it at least once a week at ours and it was so gross. I love that you can make this recipe taste good. We love any kind of gravy and bread, so hamburger gravy is just fine and dandy. The best part is that we can eat this when the kids are gone to work or school.

I love this stuff. I, too, grew up eating this as a cheap meal. Hamburger isn't as cheap as it used to be, but I still find myself making it from time to time. I like serving it over mashed potatoes instead of toast. My aunt used to do it that way.

I grew up eating this...and so did my children! To me, it is comfort food!

Throw 2 fried eggs on top -- great! Spent 20 years eating this in the Army, in the field the mess sgt gave us toast, in garrison he was so good he made us biscuits.
