Snails on Toast


  • 6 slices firm white bread
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 cloves garlic, mashed
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley
  • salt
  • fresh ground pepper
  • 2 (7 oz.) cans snails
  • 1/4 c. grated Swiss cheese


Trim crusts from bread and cut into quarters. Toast on both sides. Mix butter with all the seasonings. Spread one side of toast with the herbed butter. Top with a snail. Dot with rest of butter. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes or until hot. Serve hot. Makes 24 bites or serves 4.
