Made unique with the addition of sweet and spicy Hawaiian-jalapeno rolls, smoked Cheddar cheese, bacon, and tangy BBQ sauce, these meatball sliders provide your palate with something special to munch on amidst the spread of chips, veggies and ranch, and other favorite picnic-style potluck go-to's.

Yields9 sliders

Cooking Vessel Sizebroiler

  • 1 package Kings Hawaiian Jalapeno Rolls
  • 9 prepared meatballs (either make yourself or use frozen)
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ounce smoked Cheddar cheese (sliced)
  • BBQ sauce (we used Sweet Baby Rays Original Recipe)

  1. Slice 9 rolls in half to create slider buns. Set aside.

  2. Cook bacon and set aside.

  3. Cook meatballs and set aside to cool slightly.

  4. Over medium-high heat, sauté onions in olive oil.  Onions should become soft and translucent.  Be careful not to burn.  About 5 minutes.  Set aside.

  5. Preheat broiler to HIGH.

  6. Place the bottoms of the buns in a 9x9 baking dish.  Spread the bottom of each bun with BBQ sauce.  Top with an even layer of sautéed onions.  Repeat with bacon.

  7. Place one meatball onto each bun and top with the sliced cheese.

  8.  Put the pan into the broiler to melt the cheese.  Watch carefully and remove when the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  9. Spread an even layer of BBQ sauce on the top buns and top the sliders.

  10. Serve immediately.

Its nice to see recipes with bread. As a mother I seldom have time to prepare for a real meal. His really helps.

When I visit the local subway one of my favorite sandwiches is the meatball. I am going to call this the "southern" version of an Italian meatball sandwich. The recipe is really easy; just select your favorites and go.

Can a recipe get any easier? I like this one. If I decide to make my own meatballs or use premade, there is no way I can go wrong. I love meatball subs and this is a twist on that sandwich. I can not wait to try it.

Wow! What a genius idea! I'm definitely making these for our next family party.

OMG yum...I had no idea that Kings Hawaiian made jalapeno rolls! This recipe is so unbelievably easy to make, and the time saved alone makes me a huge fan. Smoked cheddar will no doubt elevate the dish...but I think I'd substitute the sauteed onions for fried onion or even onion rings. There's something about onion rings and BBQ sauce that just works for me every time.

This recipe seems like a really cool and fun way to entertain guests! Love it.

Any recipe that includes BBQ is a winner in my books. Can't wait to try out this recipe!
