Banana nut bread is a delicious sweet bread recipe that has become a staple of many households. Enjoyed either for dessert or for a delicious breakfast treat, Grandmas' Banana Nut Bread has a sweet and fruity flavor that you'll adore. Great fresh out of the oven, you can even toast it the next day for a wonderful quick snack. It tastes just as good.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl combine bananas, sugar, eggs, vanilla and butter; beat until mixed well. Add flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon; beat until smooth and slightly thickened.

  3. Butter 4 mini loaf pans and pour batter in, filling of the way.

  4. Top with nuts and bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out of center clean. Cool on wire rack in pan for 10 minutes then remove from pans to complete cooling.

I love banana bread as a dessert and as a breakfast. It's great with a glass of milk and with a hot cup of coffee. I think I'll make it next week instead of the cookies I had planned.

The recipe looks good but it's hard to follow. The ingredients are out of order, plus the instructions mention eggs but the ingredient list does not. How many eggs?

Never mind, I found the eggs. But still, ingredients are supposed to be listed in the order that they'll be used. It would help.
