  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups cake flour, sifted three times
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream butter until well blended. Sift sugars to together and cream into butter.
  3. Add unbeaten yolks, one at a time. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift flour with baking powder and salt 3 times. Add flour and milk alternately to batter.
  5. Fold in stiffly beaten whites.
  6. Place in buttered bundt pan and bake for 1 1/4 hours or until tested done.
  7. Cool in pan 15 minutes and remove carefully to rack to finish cooling.
