Homemade Apple Strudel
Flaky and delicious, apple strudel recipes have become an American classic in many households. Filled with sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins and pecans, our recipe for Homemade Apple Strudel is baked until it a golden brown and has a mouthwatering gooey center that is absolutely delicious. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream and you'll have yourself one heck of a dessert pastry.

Ingredients
- 4 filo pastry sheets
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons bread crumbs
- 2 medium apples cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup crushed walnuts or pecans
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon finely crushed nuts (for garnish)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cover the first filo pastry sheet with melted butter, then cover it with second sheet and cover it with butter as well. Repeat the process with the rest of the filo sheets.

Sprinkle cinnamon, orange zest and bread crumbs on top of the buttered filo pastry.

Add apples, walnuts, raisins and sugar.

Roll the pastry with the filling and cover it with the rest of butter. Sprinkle crushed nuts for garnish and precut the roll almost all the way thru. This way when it’s done it will be easy to cut it.

Pop to preheated oven for 25-35 minutes or until puffed, crisp and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and cut all the way thru.

Enjoy warm with ice cream or cold with whipped cream!
