Dessert Bar Recipe Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-
Prepare a 9-by-13 inch pan by lining it with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, butter, egg, vanilla and mix. The batter will be extremely thick and will be difficult to combine, but keep stirring or use your fingers and knead it together.
-
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
-
Sprinkle the white chocolate chips, M&ms, & coconut evenly over the dough. Set aside.
-
Combine the sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter. Stir until well combined, and pour mixture evenly over dough, using a spatula to even it if necessary.
-
Bake for 26-29 minutes or until edges of bars begin to brown and pull away slightly from the sides of the pan.
-
Allow mix to cool well before slicing and serving. Store in an airtight container on the countertop for up to five days or freeze for up to three months.

Hmmm, this is an interesting recipe and maybe a little too sweet for my taste but the concept is a great one. I'm thinking maybe instead of all of that candy and peanut butter added in you can use a chocolate cake mix and some chopped almonds into the mix to give it a more Almond Joy kinda flavor...or how about leaving in the peanut butter with chocolate cake and throwing in some peanuts for a Reese's peanut butter cup flavor. I'm sure you can create so many different varieties of cake bars...just let your imagination take over!

These really are irresistible. I made these with peanut MM's rather than the plain ones and they turned out really well. Next time, I might do a mix of white and dark chocolate chips in the batter. I love these sorts of recipes that start with a box mix and then proceed to allow for a lot of experimentation. Thanks for sharing this one!

These dessert bars look incredible. I like cake mix recipes because they are easier to make and always turn out so well. I will definitely make these soon. These will be a wonderful mix of chocolate, peanut butter, coconut, and cake mix. I will have a hard time stopping at one bite of these a day.

A list of ingredients would be most helpful. Then maybe I could really rate it

This looks pretty good, but I am a from scratch baker so I cannot make these with a cake mix. I would start out with a basic chocolate chip cookie dough mix without adding the chips and doing everything else the same. Might not be the same, but I can't bring myself to buy a cake mix.

I tried these they other day, and they really are irresistible! Although next time, I might leave out the m&ms.
