Chocolate Spritz

Nothing says Christmas cookies like traditional Spritz. Chocolate Spritz are a simple upgrade because chocolate is added! Follow this easy cookie recipe and serve up the holiday favorite (with a bit of a twist).


  • 2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup sweet butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Beat butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and salt until light and fluffy.
  2. Blend in melted chocolate. Add flour and mix well.
  3. Load press with dough and press cookies out 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake 5 - 7 minutes or just until very slightly browned around eggs.
  5. Remove to wire racks to cool. If desired, dust with confectioners sugar. Makes about 5 dozen.
