If you're looking for a cake that is elegant, easy to make, and absolutely delicious, then you've come to the right place.

This sticky lemon cake is quickly becoming one of our favorite recipes for dinner parties, garden parties, and any kind of party where you want to impress someone. There's something about its light texture and citrus flavor that is instantly classic.

However, don't let the sophistication of this cake fool you into thinking it isn't delicious. Those who love lemon desserts will be especially charmed by this sticky lemon cake, but we think that it will "wow" just about anyone.

Preparation Time15 min

Cooking Time30 min

  • 1 lemon + 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/3 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt

Sticky Lemon Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Butter an 8-inch cake pan and line the bottom with a round piece of parchment paper.

  3. Cream together the butter and ¾ cup sugar. Grate the zest and squeeze the juice from the lemon into the bowl and beat until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.

  5. Add in the flours and baking powder. Mix until combined.

  6. Add in the yogurt. Mix until combined.

  7. Pour into pan and bake for 30 minutes. The center will spring back when pressed.

  8. Meanwhile, stir the remaining ½ cup sugar and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from stove and allow to cool.

  9. Transfer the cake to a wire rack. Pierce the cake all over with a skewer and drizzle the syrup on top.

  10. Cool for 30 minutes. Remove from the pan and cool completely.

  11. Enjoy!

The only word I can use to describe this Sticky Lemon Cake is 'decadent'. It has an old worldiness about it and then you plop on that blob of cream and it becomes a plate of absolutely deliciousness. The lemon flavor is lovely, light and quite refreshing. A really good recipe!
