This dessert sounds like a good treat for this fall weekend. I love dessert recipes that start with a cake mix. They are easier to make and involve fewer ingredients. I love pecans and walnuts so I could see using either one. I don't know what this recipe has to do with hornets, but I am going to make it soon.

Having just dealt with an actual hornet's nest in our front yard, I'm not too excited to be looking at a cake with the same name. That said, this really looks like a delicious and easy-to-make treat. I'm wondering where it got its name. Are the chopped pecans and chips supposed to resemble hornets? Someone suggested adding some coconut to the recipe, and I think that would make a nice addition. I'm also wondering about using walnuts instead of pecans (no reason other than personal preference) and trying a cake with butterscotch pudding rather than the vanilla.
