Fat Substitutions


  • If a recipe calls for:
  • 1 cup oil use 1-1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1/2 cup oil use 2/3 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 Tbsp oil use 1-1/4 Tbsp margarine or butter
  • 1 cup margarine use 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 Tbsp margarine use 3/4 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter use 3/4 Tbsp oil


Substituting between liquid and solid fat works well in all recipes except frosting, pie crust, and candy.
