Amish Country's Fresh Strawberry Cobbler

Nothing says country cooking quite like a delicious homemade cobbler. This recipe for Amish Country's Fresh Strawberry Cobbler is one of our favorites because it's made with wholesome, fresh ingredients and is beyond delicious.   • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, halved lengthwise
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup chilled butter, cut up


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Beat 1/4 cup softened butter with mixer at medium speed, gradually adding 3/4 cup sugar, beating well.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Combine 1 1/4 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Spoon in to a square baking dish. Arrange strawberries on top, cut side down.
  6. Combine remaining butter, sugar and flour and blend until crumbly. Sprinkle over strawberries.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
