Crispy Fried Bananas

I just go ape over fried bananas! Use this fried bananas recipe to make them as a snack. Bring this to a friend's house as a great dessert!

Notes

For another variation on a fried bananas recipe, watch how Evandro Caregnato, Culinary Director of Texas de Brazil Brazilian steakhouse in Chicago makes his sweet fried bananas.

Ingredients

  • 6 bananas, ripe
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • bread crumbs, dry shifted
  • lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Select ripe bananas, remove the skin, scrape off the stringly fibers, and cut the bananas in half lengthwise.

  2. Dip the pieces of banana into the batter made from the egg, flour, milk, sugar, and salt, and roll them in the bread crumbs.

  3. Fry the bananas until golden brown in shallow fat, drain on paper, keep hot, and squeeze lemon juice over them just before serving.

These bananas sound amazing! Whip up a quick caramel or peanut butter sauce, and these could be a perfect dessert!

I've never had this before, but it sounds interesting, like something I would like, and maybe my grandkids would like. I wonder if you could bake a whole cookie sheet of these banana slices in the oven and have them come out crispy. there are lots of other "oven fried" dishes, so it seems like it would work.
