  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses

Is the New England difference the molasses? The spices are close to what I use in my pumpkin pie recipe from Ohio. I use double the cinnamon as yours, but we don't add molasses. It sounds like it would go really well in a pumpkin pie though. What does the cornstarch do?
