Tasty Taco Soup

Easy soup recipes are even simpler when you get to make them using your slow cooker. Just follow simple instructions, set your slow cooker, then go about your business. It won't be long and you'll have wonderful, warm soup!

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cans (29-ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1 large can tomatoes (break up into smaller pieces)
  • 1 can kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 to 1-1/2 cans (29-ounce) water
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • tortilla chips
  • grated cheese
  • avocado slices


  1. Fry ground beef with onion.
  2. When onion is tender and ground beef is done, drain well and put in a slow cooker.
  3. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, kidney beans, water and taco seasoning.
  4. Mix well and cook approximately 4 hours on low.
  5. To serve, put tortilla chips in bottom of bowl. Ladle soup over. Garnish with grated cheese and avocado slices.

I add a can of rinsed and drained black beans, a can of whoe kernal corn and a small can of diced green chilis. It's delicious!

What size is a 'large can' of tomatoes or one can kidney beans? It would be nice to have ounces or cup measurements.
