  • 3 1/2 pounds pot roast
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, cut into wedges
  • 1 can (about 8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup picante sauce
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 green pepper, coarsely chopped


  1. In a skillet, brown the beef in vegetable oil on all sides.  Add to slow cooker, along with onions, tomato sauce, picante sauce, cumin, oregano, cloves, and pepper.  Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or until meat is cooked through.
