This dessert does look "better than" a lot of other desserts, that's for sure! Love the combination of yellow cake, coconut, and chocolate.

This recipe makes it much easier to have cake I think because it does not use icing. We are so burnt out on the typical cake icing recipes. I love that this one is different while still keeping chocolate in the recipe. When you want chocolate, nothing else will do.

This is a different "better than" recipe. I've made the one with caramel syrup and Heath pieces. I am looking forward to making this one, but don't know what to do about the coconut. I love coconut, but my family does not. If only I could make it half coconut, half plain!

If you have never had this recipe, you are missing out! I have brought this to many potlucks and believe me, there are never any leftovers. It has a kind of sweet, creamy, tropical feel that crowds go nuts for. Definitely use the hint in the recipe though and make the cake a day before you want to serve it. It just seems to set up better and the flavours have a chance to blend. So yummy!

I had this cake when I was younger and remember it tasted great. For my family I would have to leave out the coconut. They are not a fan of it, says it is like eating straw. The Hershey bar, is it the regular size or the giant size? We will try this soon.

The better then sex cake that I've always made was take a choc. box mix, make as directed, when cooled take a wooden spatula and poke holes over the top. Then take ice cream carmel sauce and pour over the top. Put cool whip over that, then crush Heath Bars and sprinkle that over the top of the cool whip. There is never any left overs.

a cheese grater works great too for chocolate shavings, I like to do a lot at once so they are ready anytime. They store well in an small container in your fridge (or on your counter if your kitchen stays cool). Happy Baking :)

I have found that a Potato Peeler works great, :) Just watch your fingers..Gently run the peeler over the Choc Bar

This sounds good, however not trying this yet, I would think a White Cake mix would be appropriate to the rest of the ingridents. White cake, will allow the taste of the Vanilla Pudding to stand out in taste and color of the overall cake. I think I will try this with using a white cake.

Yes, it uses a 9 x 13 pan. I've made this MANY times. I don't use the coconut. I've also made it by putting bananas on top of the pudding and then the Cool Whip. This is one of my most requested dessert.

If you read a standard cake mix box it can be made in several pans, depending if you need to layer the cake or not, so logical thinking would be that if it calls for a cake mix AND a bunch of other ingredients then YES, ALWAYS use a 9x13" pan..common sense!
