Chicken Fried Minute Steak
Inexpensive cuts of beef make this dish affordable. Great ingredients make it delicious. If you haven't tried country fried steak, this Chicken Fried Minute Steak is a great introduction.
Ingredients
- 1 pound minute or round steak
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup broth or milk
Instructions
- Pound steaks until 1/4 inch thick.
- Dip steaks in egg and then in bread crumbs mixed with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in heavy skillet over medium to low heat.
- Brown steaks 8 to 10 minutes on each side.
- Place steaks on a warm platter. Keep hot.
- Stir flour into pan drippings. Stir over medium heat until lightly browned.
- With a whisk, stir in broth or milk. Cook until it thickens into a gravy.
- Add water if necessary, to thin. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- May return steaks to pan and simmer until ready to serve or serve sauce separately.
