Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean beef or venison
  • 1 lb. chopped suet
  • 4 lb. tart apples
  • 5 to 6 c. sugar
  • 3 lb. currants
  • 2 lb. raisins
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 lemons
  • 1/2 lb. citron, optional
  • 1 T salt

Instructions

Stew beef in as little water as possible until very tender. Cool and chop fine, or grind coarse. Grind whole oranges and lemons, removing only seeds. Mix all ingredients and cook one hour. Pack into canning jars and seal or store in cool place. I usually freeze mine and it keeps indefinitely.
