Puttanesca Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe (12 inch pizza) favorite pizza dough or store-bought shell or dough
  • olive oil
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup favorite tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbs capers.
  • Few pieces of chopped anchovy drained
  • Pitted black olives as desired
  • 2 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley
  • 1 Tbsp thin sliced fresh red hot peppers (optional)
  • Garlic powder, Italian seasoning to taste
  • Sliced pepperoni as desired
  • Finely grated fresh Romano cheese as desired

Instructions

Preheat oven to 450. Place rolled out dough on an oven stone. Brush dough with olive oil. Spoon sauce over. Sprinkle with capers, anchovy, olives, parsley, seasonings. Top with thin slices of pepperoni ( we use the soy variety ). Grate on a fine smattering of the cheese. Bake about 25 minutes or crust is golden. Cool briefly and slice. This is delicious if one enjoys savory flavors. Serves 2 or 3.
