- 1/2 cup sweet unsalted butter
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper (or to taste)
- 1 pint half and half
- 8 oz.s shredded/grated Parmesan cheese
Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add the flour and spices, whisking briskly. Allow to cook until pasty. Slowly add the cream, whisking constantly. Bring to a low boil. Add the cheese, whisking constantly, until smooth. Variation: add some pan fried cauliflower.
